Who we are

Alexandra Sweeney, DC

Co-Founder & Executive Director

Dr. Alexandra “Alex” Sweeney is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Nest Methods Institute and co-founder of The Nest Chiropractic & Wellness. A San Antonio native, she earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Missouri before completing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Logan University. Her passion for supporting pregnant women, infants, and children has led her to pursue advanced training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, Webster Technique certification, and the BIRTHFIT professional series. Being a clinician and mother, Dr. Alex brings a compassionate, family-centered perspective to the Institute’s mission of developing practical, collaborative, and function-focused approaches that help healthcare professionals better assess and support mothers and children.

Pierce Sweeney, DC, MS

Founder & Clinical Director

Dr. Pierce Sweeney is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Nest Methods Institute and co-founder of The Nest Chiropractic & Wellness. Drawing on his background in sports medicine, functional rehabilitation, and evidence-informed chiropractic care, he has dedicated his career to improving how clinicians evaluate and support pregnant, postpartum, and pediatric patients. Recognizing that pregnancy requires remarkable athleticism—and that infant feeding concerns often involve more than the mouth alone—Dr. Pierce helped develop the BIRD™ Method for pregnancy and postpartum function and the WING™ Method for whole-body infant assessment. As a clinician, educator, researcher, and published author, he leads the Institute’s work to create practical, reproducible assessment tools that promote earlier recognition, clearer clinical decision-making, and stronger collaboration across healthcare disciplines.

Our Story

During Dr. Alex’s pregnancy, Dr. Pierce stepped into a larger leadership role at The Nest and began viewing the practice’s predominantly prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric patient population through the lens of his sports science education. By applying principles of functional movement, biomechanics, and rehabilitation to the unique demands of pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and infant development, he began shaping the clinical concepts that would ultimately evolve into the WING™ and BIRD™ Methods.

By integrating these methods into care at The Nest Chiropractic & Wellness, Drs. Pierce and Alex have helped families work toward meaningful, individualized goals—from preparing for labor and navigating breastfeeding challenges to rebuilding strength, function, and confidence during postpartum core rehabilitation

Our Why

Our why is simple: to transform what we have consistently observed through clinical practice and research into practical, teachable methods that other healthcare professionals can confidently apply. By training and certifying providers in the WING™ and BIRD™ Methods, we hope to build a global community of skilled, collaborative clinicians—expanding our reach far beyond the walls of our own practice and helping more families receive thoughtful, function-focused care.

Our Methods

Specific to pediatric patients, it helps open the door to communicate plans of care, home recommendations and referrals to other providers for co-management efficiently and effectively.

The WING Method

Meant for pregnancy through 9 weeks postpartum. It allows the provider to see what exactly the ever-changing body needs when it comes to treatment and exercises. It opens up a line of communication with community partners for easy referrals.
